About Us
Who (and Why) We Are
The Flight Guys grew out of a shared love of travel — and a shared obsession with helping our families, friends, and each other book the best flights.
Once word spread that we were regularly finding outstanding flight deals and flying business class around the world (for free), The Flight Guys took off, and so far we’ve saved travelers hundreds of thousands of dollars and tens of millions of points and miles.
But saving money and miles is only part of the picture. We’re here to help you fly smarter.
That means knowing which aircraft types are the most comfortable for long-haul flights, and which airports make for the easiest layovers (and which to avoid).
It means staying on top of route launches and the continually evolving landscape of award travel and airline loyalty programs.
It means knowing when to pick a United 767 over a 777, and that some flights to Africa only have recliners in business class — but that some US cities regularly have $1,000 lie-flat seats to Tokyo.
And it means constantly collecting data points in our own travels, from domestic short hops to long-haul business class splurges, to make sure we’re always pointing you toward the most convenient, economical, and comfortable flights.
Our mission is to give you that same sense of accomplishment we feel when we book a trip and know, hours of research later, that we're getting there the best way possible.
That’s our flightgeist, and we can't wait to help you get flying.
Meet the Flight Guys
Michael
Michael got hooked on international travel in college, when a research scholarship sent him packing to 13 countries in three years. He has since lived on three continents (and has taken the train across each of them), has flown 100,000 miles just between New York and South Africa, and once flew to Bermuda for a sandwich.
Michael loves solving his friends' travel logistics puzzles, and he believes (and will be happy to tell you) that as long as there are sleeper trains and first class flights bookable on miles, it’s never too late to experience the golden age of travel.
Favorite plane: Boeing 747
Latest points triumph: JFK-Madrid nonstop in Iberia’s new business class for 22,100 points + ~$300
Julian
Julian caught the travel bug at a young age through a serendipitous cultural exchange that sent him to rural France every year for several weeks. Since then, he has traveled to 35 countries and loves traveling by air, rail, and foot.
Julian enjoys planning travel, dreaming big, and creatively solving logistical challenges for friends and family. It’s a big world, and while in some ways travel is more accessible than ever, it has only gotten more confusing and difficult to figure out the best way to get where you want to go. That’s where we come in!
